The Different Types of Messages in Shout

Direct Message

Direct messages are when you message a single Shout user through Shout. This is also know as Shout-to-Shout (S2S) communication. This is similar to sending DMs on Instagram or Facebook, except the messages don't end up in hidden folders.

Shout-to-Shout (S2S) Automations

In addition to direct messages, you can also send Shout to Shout messages through chain bots and drip campaigns. This is a great way to connect with and train team members or individuals.

You can also use all of these automations, except for a Chain Bot, with a customer service number or a marketing number.

Broadcast Message

Broadcast Messages are a great option when you want to send the same message to lots of people at once. This is a great way to reach out to your customers or friends. You can send a Broadcast Message through Shout-to-Shout (S2S), your Customer Service number (CS), or your Marketing number (MKT). There are several different places where you can send a Broadcast Message.

Broadcast List

A Broadcast List allows you to create a dynamic collection of people using lists, tags, or contacts, and then use that list to send a broadcast message, run a bot, or start a drip campaign to a large number of people at the same time. For example, you can create a broadcast list called "Team" that includes all the contacts from your account that belong to your "Team Blue", "Team Yellow", and "Team Green" lists and all the people that have the tag "Awaiting Team Color".

Customer Service and Marketing Number

Shout offers two types of texting numbers – customer service and marketing. These enable communication with your customers and team while keeping your personal phone number private.

A customer service number is a local number based on your location. Many customers like seeing your local area code because they’re supporting a local business. This number is best for all things related to customer service such as orders, scheduling appointments etc.

Marketing numbers are 833 numbers and set up for business texting. This means they don’t have the same restrictions as customer service numbers. These numbers are best for all things marketing, especially sending a lot of messages at one time.

You must have a Pay as You Go, Basic, or Pro Plan to access this feature
