How to Create and Manage Lists

Create a list when you want to send the same message to many contacts. With Shout, you begin a unique conversation with each contact in the list at the same time. You can use list messaging to send special offers to your customers, send weekly reminders to your team, and more. 


Shout conversations are always between you and one contact.

Create a List

  • Click on Lists
  • Click the blue button at the top left of the screen

  • Add a photo, name the list, add a description to the list, and click Next

  • Click Select

  • Click on the box, next to each contact, you want to add to the list
  • Click Select

  • Click Save 

  • You can also add contacts to a list from their contact profile.
  • Bots can add and remove contacts from lists. Learn how here.
  • You can also add Contacts to a list when uploading a CSV. In the CSV, add a column for lists. In that column, include a comma separated list for the lists you want your contact to be apart of.

Send a Message to a List

  • Click on Lists
  • Click on the + next to the list that you want to send a message to

  • Click on Send Broadcast Message

  • Select a Service to send the message through ex. Customer Service Number
  • Draft your message
  • Click on the Red Arrow to send the message to the list

You can also send a message by going to the lists page, click the message button, and compose your message. Hit send or schedule for later.

Remove Contacts from a List

  • Click Lists
  • Click on the ••• next to the list you want to remove a contact from

  • Click on Manage Contacts

  • Identify the person you want to remove and click on the box next to the contact to deselect them

  • Any contacts with a checked box next to them will still be in the list
  • Click Save Contacts to update the contacts in the list

Bots can manage contacts in a list with the Add to List and Remove from List actions.
