How to Find and Message Other Shout Users

You can search in Shout on both the web application and in the mobile app to find contacts by the information in their Shout Profile.  It easiest to search by username, but some users may be searchable by their name, phone number, or email address as well. 

You control which information is searchable on Shout from your Shout Profile and your Privacy settings. The default setting for Shout users is to make their name and username public.


  • Click on Contacts 
  • Click on the blue + 

  • A new contact card will pop up
  • You can search for a contact by their Shout  username

You can also search for a contact by their first and last name.

  • Type the Shout username in the search bar
  • Click on Add to add the contact to your Shout contacts

  • Click on the + next to the contacts name

  • Click on the Send Message button to send a message to your new contact

You can also run a bot or a drip campaign.

  • Compose your message
  • Select your service: Shout-to-Shout, Customer Service, Marketing, or Facebook
  • Click on the red arrow to send your message

  • Click on your Inbox to view your sent message to your new contact


  • Click on the magnifying glass 

  • Type in the name or username of the contact
  • Click on shout users, if you are searching for a shout user, in order to narrow down your search

You can also search Shout for users, lists, group chats, conversations, and messages all in one spot.

  • Click on View, next to the correct username of the contact

  • Click on Create Contact


  • Tap on the icon of the person in the circle
  • Tap on Contacts
  • Tap on Add

  • Type the Shout username, of the contact, in the search bar

  • Find the correct username from the list and tap on the Contact

  • Tap on the Add button, to add the contact to your Shout account

  • Tap on the . . . next to your new contact, to send them a message

  • Tap on Send Message

You can also send a bot or a drip campaign to your new contact.

  • Compose your message

  • Tap on the + to select a service: Shout-to-Shout, Customer Service, Marketing, or Facebook

  • Tap on the red arrow to send your message
  • Go to your inbox to view your sent message to your new contact


  • Tap on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen

You can search Shout for users, groups, group chats, conversations, and messages all in one spot.

  • Type the contacts name into the search bar
  • Tap on the name of the contact

  • Tap on the Add button to add the contact to your Shout account
