How to Edit a Bot

1. Click on Automations.

2. Click on Bots under the automations drop down menu.

3. Click on the . . . next to the name of the bot you would like to edit.

4. From the drop down menu, click on Edit.

5. When editing your bot, the first thing to double check is Bot Status. Make sure Active is selected. If Pause is selected, your bot will not run.

6. Another thing to double check is that the correct services are selected. If you want to send your bot through Shout to Shout, Customer Service, and Marketing, make sure to check the box next to each service listed underneath Select Services.

  • If you ever receive an error that says "blank outlet", that means you don't have that service selected in your bot settings.
  • If you want to send your bot through Facebook Messenger or Instagram, you first need to connect your Shout account to your Facebook Business Page.
  • For more information on how to use Shout to respond to Facebook messages, click here.

7. From the edit view you can:

  • Change the name of your bot
  • Change the bot description
  • Add, delete, change trigger words
  • Add or delete actions
  • Change question types
  • Change bot messaging

If you choose free response as the message type, the bot will wait for your customer's response before continuing to the next question.

8. Finally, make sure to click Save to save any changes made to the bot.

  • We recommend testing the updated bot in the preview window.
